The recent elementary career day was a “huge success,” according to Kylnn Slimmer. “The purpose of career day in an elementary school setting is to give the students an opportunity to explore their career options as well as their dreams. No child is limited in their dreams. Career day gives the students the opportunity to connect learning to the real world,” said Slimmer.
On April 21, elementary students dressed up as nurses, rock stars, police officers, and more. The young students were allowed to explore their dreams while still taking a small look into a realistic future. Students were allowed to engage in activities related to careers and participate in engaging conversations. “Career Day provided a way to increase awareness of a variety of careers, as well as inform students of the education and skills needed and responsibilities of each career. The presenters thoroughly enjoyed visiting and sharing, and the students learned a lot!” said Elementary Principal Allison Stancil.
