East Wake Academy varsity baseball team takes on the title of #7 seed in the state for CLass 1A East. The Eagles finished 5-1 in their conference and 16-4 overall. The team took down Franklin Academy Tuesday, April 25th, in a 29-2 victory with senior Connor Fitts and junior Owen Schmidt hitting home runs.

"I feel we are playing at a higher standard than last year, said sophomore Jordan Fuentes, adding their "hype" comes from the antics happening in the dugout. The team brought out a "DIALED" (Dude I am literally living everyone's dream) hat after their big win against 4A high school Heritage.

Schmidt feels the team has a "really successful" season so far, "surpassing a lot of expectations" but still have a lot more to "accomplish." The team took the conference championship last year and hope to take the title again this year. "If we continue to play as a team, we will go far this season," said Schmidt.

The team takes on the #2 seed in the state, Chatham Charter, in hopes to continue on their road to win the state championship.
