Grayson Pittman, who placed third, said playing during an unusually hot spring was challenging. He said he was “exhausted throughout the middle” of his round, which slowed him down. Pittman said the team played “amazing” and when they looked at the leader board and saw they were winning by a “big margin,” everyone was ecstatic.

“I was so happy to be able to help my team in my senior year and it is something I’ll always be grateful for,” said Pittman.

Junior Ethan Gelo, a consistent golfer on the team, with a 9-hole round average of 39.5, stated the “job’s not finished” as he and the team prepare for the NCHSAA tournament. Gelo said they are focusing on practices, working on fixing their flaws, and maintaining “what we’re doing well at.”

The team is working to keep up their physical and mental stamina, said Gelo, adding golf “heavily revolves” around your mental state.

“We want to win and prove ourselves as a team,” said Gelo.
