East Wake Academy has won its third consecutive varsity baseball conference championship. In the championship game, ending with a 3-0 win, Tanner Robertson threw a complete game and a no-hitter against EWA’s baseball conference “rival” Falls Lake, said Coach Scott Canipe.
“Our team played great in the field which allowed me to freely pitch a no-hitter, said Robertson. Senior Hunter Smith said it was a group effort with a team batting average of .208.
EWA won 13 consecutive games bringing their record to 16-4. Currently, the baseball team is on a playoff run, winning the first three games.
This year they hope to become the first EWA baseball team in the school’s history to take home a North Carolina State Championship, said Canipe.
